witch house
mixed media

process
Witchy has always been one of my favourite aesthetics, and I really wanted to make a fireplace, so came up with a witchy house diorama.
For the fireplace, I started out by building the general shape in cardboard, making sure to leave space for the light source I wanted to put in there later. Once the structure was done, I papier-mâchéd (and yes, I am going to use that as a verb) it and waited for it to dry, after which I painted it with acrylics. Gave it a dirty wash for good measure. The wallpaper is the backside of Christmas wrapping paper leftovers.
I added a couple of accessories and details, like some bellows for the fireplace, a rug (that I’m not entirely happy with and will probably redo later), a cauldron, a broom, a crystal ball from a giant marble and a table to put it on. A small stool with a pot that will receive a plant later. A copper sculpture as a leftover from a different project. I also found a small mirror to put on the wall. I’m planning on adding paintings, a clock, a bookshelf, probably some other things.

Work in progress. To be continued…
